Using Partition Magic to Merge C & D drives

I have 2  partitioned spaces- presumably one Drive.  It is a Lap-Top.   I have no more space on C.  I don't have any documents to my knowledge on C.  It is all OS stuff, Adobe and hardware things.  I want my D space on the C side.   I have all my documents on an external Maxtor 300 GB drive.   Should I pay Norton $70.00 bucks and download Partition Magic?  Should I try one of the free sites?  Should I give it to Best Buy Geek Squad for a week and $130.00?   Can I do this myself without having to re-install all the programs that came installed on my computer somehow?    Thank you

Thank you for your response.  My Temp folder is empty - if it is the folder labelled Temp under C:.  I cleaned it and all I could out long ago.    I am happy you said it will work.   I don't see the problem going away as it is all programs on the C:  drive and I'm not sure what I do and don't really need....       Have fun with the points and thanks again for the help.
