silicon image 3114 raid controller

i have 1tb HDD and silicon image 3114 raid controller sometimes doesn't recognize when it starts up.
Should i update bios of silicon image 3114 raid controller?
I use windows sbs 2003 with this controller.  
where can i download bios and installation manual?

i have a PCI card with 3114 chip and windows running.
and what's the difference between "BIOS Update Utility for Windows" and "BIOS Update Utility for DOS"?

do you know which bin file i should use?

b5403.bin         - add-in card base BIOS
r5403.bin         - add-in card raid BIOS
5403.bin           - motherboard BIOS for OEM use in development. This BIOS is not intended for general end-users. End-users with a SiI3114 onboard a motherboard, please contact the motherboard manufacturer for a BIOS upgrade.

what's the difference between base BIOS and raid BIOS?

Oh wait, I recommend to flash bios in DOS which is reliable way.

which tool would you recommend to use? there are several dos update utilities.
From the link you provided above, select version for DOS. You have to prepare the floppy disk and create the DOS flash bios. Insert floppy in system, and restart computer. Then, follow on screen instruction to flash the raid card.

But again, backup your data first. It is safe in any case.
