how can i view a keynote file? its a mac thing.

so a student brought a presentation that they said that they made in powerpoint,  however it was in keynote format.  I do not know how to view keynote files on a pc or a mac.   im guessing that there is a plugin or something.  So the end result is that i want to be able to display the keynote presentation on a pc.  I do not have the keynote software so i will need a different way to solve the problem than to open it in keynote and save it as a .ppt.

so how do people usually view keynote fles on the mac?  I think its something that people use on the web isnt it?  is there a plugin that mac users have to install so they can view the keynote presentaion without having the keynote editor installed on their computer?
Hmmm... Impatica for PowerPoint costs $499 OR iWork costs $79 ...
so your telling me that people have to purchase software to view files made by keynote?  lol  so say i made a powerpooint presentation ,  and powerpoint chareged people for the plugin to view the presentation, why ever would i use powerpoint as a medium to display my presentation.

flash ...
If the student who created the Powerpoint file opens it back on his Mac in Keynote .. he can EXPORT the slideshow as  PowerPoint or Flash or HTML.
And then use this version to share with Windows users.
Keynote does not have a Player-only version .. largely because it has a much smaller user base than MS Office, is not particularly aimed at business users .. and it ALREADY has options to export in PPT, SWF or HTML .. to allow creators to share their presentations with non-Mac users or non-keynote-owning mac users.

Because you have PowerPoint, and you can show PowerPoint presentations with PowerPoint, you don't need the viewer to actually see it.

eoinosullivan is correct with his statement, Keynote is designed for Keynote users, a relatively small group of people that use Keynote to create the presentation, and also use Keynote to view it...  saving the Keynote presentation as something else from within Keynote is the only solution
