Error loading operating system

I have just built my PC however the OS won't install properly.

I have a ECS NF650iSLIT board with a Intel Pentim Dual Core E2140 CPU, 2gb DDR2 Ram and a Nvidia Geforce 7300 GS Graphics card.

The problem is when the OS finishes its unitial load and reboots to go to the windows setup it keeps coming up with "error loading operating system". I have powered down and took out the battery and also loaded BIOS defualts and it makes no difference.

Any ideas?

How can I update the BIOS with the latest version without having a operating system? I don't have a floppy drive only CD/DVD optical drive
Some modern motherboard manufacturers create ISO files for you to download - that you can burn onto CD - and update the bios by booting from that.

It seems ECS do not do this...
You will most likely have to get hold of a external usb floppy drive...

I shall try this now.
Dont have any thumb drives plugged in while booting, do you? Might throw off the boot sequence....
ok the latest is this:

I have tried a new HDD to load windows onto, the one I was using when I got the error was a old IDE 40gb. I have just tried a brand new seagate 160gb SATA and it loads into the main windows seteup but it now gives me a BSOD stating that there is a error:

Win32.sys

Beginning memory dump?

Could it be memory problems etc.
Also I chose to install on the unpartitioned space. The hard drive was initialised prior to being put in on my USB-IDE cable but it has no data on it at all. I also selected format (quick) when running the xp setup.
It seems to have worked now. It obviously had a problem applying files to the hard drive. A HDD format on another PC seems to have sorted it.
