Orphaned Controls in Designer

I have a form that I am working on.    There are 8-10 controls that will show up in the form Properties Window.   These are checkbox controls and textboxes.     However, they don't show up anywhere on my form.   It was as if I deleted them at some point, but Visual basic kept a reference to them in the Designer.

Is there a way to clean this up?   I repeat, on the form, these controls DO NOT EXIST.    Can you recompile the form?   I know these 'orphaned controls' are referenece in the form.Designer.vb because I can see them.   Deleting from there makes me a bit nervous of what else I could skrew up.

thanks.
