DNS Service not running - Cannot start DNS service - DNS error 4015

SBS 2003 Box with a single Nic - DNS Service not running - Cannot start DNS service  - DNS error 4015.  The service is set to auto.  When I try to start it I get an error that the network  is not present or not running error 1222.  If I look at the Local Network adaptor in network connections, it is trying to acquire a DHCP address but cannot - it just keeps trying and does not throw an error.

I tried running the Internet Connection and Email wiz, but that did not fix the issue.

I assume you set a static IP in the tcpip properties?

I would suggest you try running the wizard to change the server IP address.  It sounds like perhaps someone tried to change the IP address of the server manually, and that will royally fubar lots of things in SBS.  There is a wizard in the Server Management console - expand Standard Management, then click Internet and Email, and in the right-hand pane, select Change Server IP Address.

OK - I will give it a try.

Are you sure that you have static IP assigned to NIC?
MrHusy:

Yesy - static IP is assigned.

Bill - are you still having this problem?  Did you try running the Change IP Address wizard?
