How to set up the ODBC connection to Donor Perfect for Crystal Reports

I know this may be a long shot since a search on Donor Perfect on EE doesn't give any results but here goes.  We just got Crystal Reports to use with Donor Perfect.  However, when I tried to set up the ODBC connection, there was no obvious connection to the database.   I contacted Donor Perfect support but their answer was that they do not support Crystal.  I had posted another Crystal question in a Donor Perfect user forum several weeks ago and that still is unanswered so I know that won't help.  I will also try to contact Crystal support and see if they can help.  I know Donor Perfect is a Foxpro 9 database.  Does anyone have any ideas about this?
Thanks,
Alexis

Thank you but I don't want to be converting the data all the time.  We need a realtime solution.  I need to get the ODBC connection set up for Donor Perfect that can work for Crystal Reports, just like when I use Crystal with Oracle or Sql Server.

If it really is FoxPro you should be able to use the FoxPro ODBC connection or other FoPro connection from Crystal.

Thanks, mlmcc and tboy6423.  I saw a Foxpro driver selection in the ODBC setup but even when I chose it, it didn't help.  Donor Perfect uses dbf files for its database.  I will do some more checking and will get back to you.

Did you try that install though? you may have the wrong driver...
I am still trying to get the latest driver installed.  I don't have admin privileges so I couldn't do the install myself.  I have to work with another contractor who is the network admin and it's been hard getting in touch.  I talked to him this morning and he said he would do the install today and then I can see if that works.
Thanks and I will let you know as soon as I am able to test.

Okay.  The updated driver was installed but I still can't get it to work in ODBC admin.  I get an error that the new driver needs to be installed.  I looked at the download page and it says the ODBC driver is no longer supported.  So the file that I downloaded is actually an OLE DB provider driver.  I have always used the ODBC setup before and had no problems.  Do you have any suggestions?  If I open Crystal and use the Database Expert and select OLE DB provider, it gives me a screen to enter Data Source, User ID and Password.  I'm not sure how to indicate the data source is Donor Perfect.  I'm trying to get info on this now.
Thanks,
Alexis

This may help as well, it gives examples of connection strings for foxpro:

What version of Crystal reporst do you have?
We have Crystal XI.  I have used connection strings on web applications and in modules in Access, but how would that apply to Crystal?  Where would I put the connection strings?  In the past when I have used Crystal, I have just used the database expert to connect using the ODBC and then I didn't have to specify a connection string.
Thanks,
Alexis
tboy,
After reading more about the OLE Db connection, I finally understand what you say two posts ago.  I created a new connection in Crystal using OLEDB and selected the dbf files, and it worked!

Thank you.  I was getting really frustrated with this.
Regards,
Alexis

I am really happy that you got it working!!!
