How to delete an undeleteable Folder ?

Hello gurus,
I have by mistake downloaded a service pack for Windows onto my USB drive.
After installation , I have now 2 folders with characters that I am not being able to delete.
access denied... I tried everything... nothing is working.. I got killbox, I tried safe mode, I tried to plug that usb on another computer
nothing is working..
Does it mean I have to format ?
eventually I would do it ...but that's very weird... anyone can help me out ?
thanks

You have tried the right steps so far ... the next step is to reformat.  The good news is you can use "Quick Format"
have you tried to delete te folder using command prompt? open a cmd winows and try to delete from there
You can also use a live Linux CD like Knoppix http://www.knoppix.net/ though this is a more advanced option.

If you decide to go this route make the CD from the image on the site you will need an iso burner to do this http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

Once you have your live linux CD boot off the CD, make sure your USB drive is connected when you boot.

Once in Knoppix you should be able to use the built in file browser to locate and delete the folder

If there is nothing on the drive that you need to keep (or can be temporarily relocated) - reformat it.  Trying any of these tools will just use more of your time.
Dear All
This Kind Of Security On Windows Protected Files
You Have 2 Ways To Delete That Folder
The 1st One
Plug Your USB Flash Into Mac Machine :) Its Really Cool , you can delete it so easily

2nd One
On tools menu go to simple sharing and uncheck it  apply >> ok
go to that folder properties
you will find a new one called security , simly add your user permission to access that folder then apply and ok :)
it will be work 100 % i tried both of them

Dear all,
first of all that hard drive is 160gb and is loaded of info. So I would need to copy them somewhere ...format and re-copy again...
We are in 2008 !!! Do we have to do it this way ?????
Evathios.. I m sorry to tell U ...didnt work.... access is denied!!
you can use norton ghost
or acronic software
??? norton ghost ?? what for ?
norton ghost is a backup program for you hard drive
he can take an image from your partition or all the hard disk and save it into a another HDD or a USB or DVD
This mean it will take everything in that partition including the OS boot if you select your primary partition

for more information abuot that program visit www.symantic.com
regards
If after you enable the security tab, go into the "Security" tab and click the "Advanced" button ...

Now click the "Owner" tab and select your account or "Administrators" in the "Change owner to" window - even if "Current owner" is already this account or group.

Check (click) "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects".

Click on the "Permissions" tab and make sure "Inherit from parent..." is checked - Now click Apply.

A couple confirmations later, you should be able to regain control of the folder and its contents.
Problem with using Ghost or Acronis on this is;
1) You use ghost to duplicate the drive
2) You format the drive and the folder is now gone
3) You use ghost to restore the drive... AND THE FOLDER IS BACK and still UNDELETABLE...

I think the best way to do this is to use a non Windows OS, if you have access to a MAC you can do as Evathios said, or you can create the Knoppix live CD from www.knoppix.com and boot off that.  Knoppix has the ability to read NTFS and it will allow you to delte the file.  It even has a realy easy GUI.
