Cannot join the domain

Hi,
Have a problem with a domain which is critical. It's 2003 domain on a Server 2003 Standard Edition. When I try to add 2 laptops in the domain, I recieve a error on the client machines. Since they are norwegian, I will try to translate the error messag. :The following error occured while attempting to join the domain. The catalog service cannot give a relative identificator" There are no error in logs on the client machine or the server.
Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for your replies. I have checked with different laptops and no one can join the domain.
There are only one DC in this domain, and this server holds all the roles. I've checked this in the AD users and computers, but how can I check if the Relative ID role is running and working?
Also, If I try to add the computer manually in AD I recieve the same error message. "The directory service was unable to allocate a relative identifier"
What kind of errors/warning are they seeing in the event logs?
The event log in the server displays an warning message: ID 2091
"Ownership og the following FSMO role is set to a server which is deleted or does not exist"

The only thing is that the servername displayed is the correct one. It claims that the actual server does not exist.
Hi!
Problem solved! your replies that this was connected to the RID master, helped me figure out that I could use ntdsutil.exe to seize the role as RID master. This worked out fine:)
Thank you very much!:)
Make sure you never bring back the original RID master!
