Problem sending mail through 3:rd party software.

I have a problem sending mail through 3:rd party software with Outlook Express.
When you click the send button in the program Outook Express returns the error message explaining that the SMTP server can't be contacted. The e-mail will be put in the outbox in Outlook Express and the next time you open Outlook Express or click Send and recive in Outook Express the mail will be sent.

I have checked the properties for the computers affected and they have Outlook Express as Standard mail program.

The problem is that the mail ends up in the outbox in outlook express nut is not sent until I open Outlook Express.
The third party software is called Pyramid and it's a buisness system sort of like SAP or Navision.
Pyramid just uses the standard e-mail client to send mail, in other words there is no settings in the program that can be altered.
Normal use of Outlook Express works perfect.
Have tried turning och everything I can think of (antivirus, firewall etc)
This works from other machines in the same network.
So OE works fine without Pyramid?  Did you integrate Pyramid with OE properly?
