MS CRM 3.0 Deployment Manager / Add User

Hi All

i got a q regarding MS CRM 3.0 and te Deployment Manager and or User INtegration of the Active Direcotry:
i have a plain installation of CRM 3.0 in a MS Windows 2003 Server R2 Sp2 environment with sql server 05. after the plain isntallation the installation wozard guide created the AD groups, DB is there etc. But logging in to the CRM server as Domain Admin and running the Deployment Mnager as Domain Admin doesnt let  me add new Users to the crm system, neither via the webinterface. the Deployment manager gives me following navigation tree:
Deployment Manger
-Server Manger
-License Manger
--Company Name
-User Manager
--Company Name

IIS6WebPool is running under: NETWORK SERVICE
IIS Website is: INTEGRATED SECIRUTY
MS SQL SERVER: based on the installation, im not quite sure which permission are nessecary.

so, here my questions:
1) what are the rights steps to setup the first CRM Administrator with full permission, on the Deployment Manager, or on the Webinterface etc.
2)how to i integrate our AD-Users? is there a synchronization?

im sorry, but the IMplemenation guide doesnt give me the answers...

thx a bunch in advance

best

Hi,

This is a long shot and the very first thing yo should do after a CRM install but I'll say it anyway :-)

Open CRM via the web interface.  Click Settings --> Settings --> Business Unit Settings --> Users --> Then double click the user that you installed CRM with.  Scroll down and make sure the 'Restricted Access Mode' check box is unchecked.  Save and close the record and refresh the browser.  This should give you full access to everything as you'll already have a 'System Administrator' role.

All youo need to when adding new users is to click the 'New' button and type in the A.D. login name for the users you want to create and CRM should do the rest for you.

Cheers,
MH
Hi,

Are you logged in as the same user under which the CRM installation is done. When installing CRM it grants System Administrator access to the user logged in at the time of installation. You need to be logged in as that user to add additional users, once you add an additional user in the role System Administrator, you would be able to login and use Deployment Manager and web based users adding with the new user.

HI, yeah thanks for the hint with the restricted  checkbox button, after that i could finally create a new user. thx.
but, i still cant create new user out of the deployment manager. also, once i type in a domain login name into the new user field (webinterface) immediately after the input field loses the focus the error comes up: an "unexpected error occurs".

the only thing what i have to contribute is: im still having 28 days for evaluation - is that a prob? everything else is brandnew installation...

thx tom

(i give u all the points i have :-)

Hi,

no unfortunately not. CRM Server is runnig virtual (VMWare), IE7 is loading forever. Im using FireFox from my station - its stays forever while connection and then of course timeout. im going to log iis now. any other ideas?
thx
Hmmmm...This is a strange one indeed!!

So, from the actual CRM server where you're running I.E.7 even that's not loading up??

Can you check the event viewer on the CRM server itself and see if that gives you any messages??

Maybe perform an IISRESET first then try again and look at the event logs.

IIS - Direcotry Sec: Anonymous enable & Integrated Windows enabled
IIS NTF - I ADDED EVERYONEjust as a test:

so far - now im getting a AUTHENTICATION ERROR WINDOW within the CRM webapplication. im looged in as domain admin ( same user who made the installation)

tom
Ah ha!!

Make sure Enable Anonymous Access is not checked.  CRM works entirely with Integrated Windows Authentication.

Try that and let me know.

Hi,

Can you right click on Web Sites in IIS and select Properties, check the default version of ASP.Net...It should be 1.1.4322.

What happens when you open the CRM web site in IIS, right click loader.aspx and select Browse??

u should recieve ur points, again thx
Ahhh...Excellent!!!  :-)

All CRM 3.0 is based on the .Net version 1.1.4322.  There will be a version conflict if any of the virtual directories is tryig to use version 2.0.  CRM
4.0 is based on version 2.0.

Glad it's working!!

Hi,

Make sure the user you're trying to log into CRM as is setup in CRM for a start and has been given at least one security role.

Try the full URL : http://<servername>/loader.aspx

What browser are you using??
