Adding a Win2003 R2 Domain Controller

I have a Win 2003 standard sp2 with active directory.  I am trying to add a domain controller with a system running Win2003 R2 standard sp2.  I get a error about running forestprep on the schema master.
Do I need to run the R2 disk on the active directory server, so they are at the same revision?

You'll need to run ADPREP /FORESTPREP from the second CD on the existing domain controller to get this to work.

I have to run adprep /forestprep bacause of the differance of 2003 standard and 2003 R2 standard?
Is that the only around this?
Essentially, yes. There's enough differences that forestprep needs to be done.

There is additional functionality in R2.  The addition of those entries in the AD will not affect the operations/functionality of your systems.  Safe to do.
Which version do I use for the forestprep.  The standarded or the R2 version?
