Cannot make changes to Outlook 2003 Autoarchive settings

Here's a natty problem . . . I have autoarchiving set for my outlook 2003 running on a SBS2003 R2 network. It is archiving properly. Everything is fine except when I want to make any change to autoarchiving through tools/options/other/autoarchive and try to change anything in the menu I get the message, "The file name is not valid". It's been that way for as long as I remember. I got around it last time last year by changing the filename of the archive and it took it but then went back to giving me the same error message. When it has the same file name it delivers that message it will not overwrite the file(name).

This error message is very similar to what I get when I try to save an attachment from an open email with the same name as a file that already exists on my computer. "The handle is invalid". I must give it a different name if I want to save it again.

Any one have a clue as to what may be happening? I'm stumped.

I am getting the same message when trying to setup some new PCs with Outlook and autoarchiving.  So far my only thoughts are that either it is a permissions issue or perhaps a hotfix or office patch went awry.

I have all full control permissions at the server and the workstations so that doesn't appear to be it. I will try looking at profile next but I'm out this AM. Stand by till later today. Thanks for the suggestions. Back shortly.

Alex
It's not permissions for sure.

What kind of things get lost when I delete my profile. I have an awful lt of me set up in Outlook at the moment.
