Secure Folder while using forms authentication and ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider

Hello, how do you control access to specific folders when using forms authentication and the ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider? When using windows authenticaiton i could control access to a folder with this:

<location path="administrators">
            <system.web>
                  <authorization>
                        <allow roles="BDB\domain admins"/>
                        <deny users="*"/>
                  </authorization>
            </system.web>
      </location>

using the above code with forms authentication does not throw an error, but even if the user is in the role and the credentials are correctly passes the page never redirects to the secure folder...

How can this be resolved???

1) Is the user really authenticated?

2) Is the user really in the designated role?
