Is it possible to hide the contents in a network shared folder while still allowing access from a shortcut outside of that folder?

We have a network shared folder. We are trying to hide the contents of that folder. Next to the shared folder are shortcuts to the contents of that folder. If someone were to go into Tools>Folder Options>View>Show Hidden Files and Folders, they will be able to see the contents of the folder. Is there a way to truly hide the contents while still allowing access from a shortcut to the contents of that folder?

Setting attributes as system will have to suffice. GP is not an option. You both answered my questions so I am splitting the points.
