SYSTEM RESOURCE PROCESS

PC RUNNING XP PRO USING 98% OF RESOURCES TO RUN THE "SYSTEM" PROCESS IN TASK MANAGER. HAVE CHECKED FOR VIRUSES USING AVG. NOTHING.

For <CombeFix> please read <ComboFix>

The technique for HijackThis is to create a folder where you would like the HijackThis file to reside and run it from there, not from the Desktop or a temp folder.
If you require advice on what to Fix (if anything) please upload your HijackThis logfile by clicking the "Attach File" box then pasting in your logfile.

Also try turning off your MS 'automatic updates' and rebooting.   Manually select Windows updates, install the appropriate ones, then turn on automatic updates once again.  Reboot.
