Reverse DNS Lookup Causing Bounce Back Messages

We have an exchange 2003 server in a domain using "{DomainNam}.local" . When we send email using the exchange SMTP server, some get bounced back with a reverse DNS lookup error. Many emails go through fine.

I was able to locate this article which details that I need to change the Host and Record Pointers with my ISP. Not sure how to proceed. the .local doamin is not a public domain name, if I attempt to look for public domains with a .local ending, there are none listed.

How can I configure this exchange server to send and receive email without gettting bounced back?

thanks
Steve
