asked on

syntax for dates?

I have an application that will allow me to enter a "where" statement for a query. I can't enter "declares" in the section and many of the DateAdd atempts I make fail for un-specified syntax errors so I suspect only a subset of the SQL language is available to me. But I don't know that for sure. The database is an Access database

What I need it the syntax for the first date of last month and also the last date of last month.

I'd also like to find a SIMPLE sql langauge reference that I can print or buy. I am just getting into this and it is very interesting but the online materials are tough to flip back and forth through.

If you click on help from the VB Editor Window (Alt+F11), you are taken to an entirely different Help structure than you see from the Database design window.  The explanations and examples are detailed and clear.  Have you looked there?

wow... it looks like the DateSerial technique was just what I was looking for.
That was a lot cleaner than I thought it would be. I'll know more on monday and i'll close it then if so.
THank you!
