uninstall DFS

Had a recent issue with DFS not replicating as it should, data disappearing etc. which i believed to be simply the volume of data the shares were attempting to replicate and the type of data. I had removed the replication partners from all the links and left it just with the one partner for each share so that it was simply performing namespace mappings or at least i think it is. The share mappings are now pointing to the server names and not DFS. What i want to be sure of and dont have the time to test and not too confident about backup is can i now just uninstall DFS without it effecting the data or do i have to remove all the links and roots first? After i got shut of each replication partner i couldnt delete the data that was still left on there, tired stopping DFS etc. even though the share targets are not referencing those shares any more. I want to make sure i tidy up from DFS without losing any data and minimising any downtime as it is just overkill for the environment it is in. Also was it entirley neccessary to remove the replication partners first or could have i just "toasted DFS" and changed the scripts and all the data would have still been there ready for me to map in whatever fashion i fancied?

Cheers

Hi, thanks for the link
Is this registry edit necessary after uninstalling DFS via add/remove programs?
