Cisco router configuration - Wireless card

Hi there,

I'm designing an IP network for a customer of mine, the Telco is also providing a wireless connection (NextG... Telstra version of a 3G wireless network) as redundancy for the network.

The customer has been (is)  using a WAN based on frame relay and ISDN lines for backup, all the routers in the network can switch between these two networks (FR or ISDN) automatically i.e. if the FR is down they switch to ISDN and upon detecting that the FR is up again they drop the ISDN.

I'd like to setup a similar configuration with the 'new' network, i.e. if for whatever reason the SHDSL connection at any branch is down I would like to set the router to connect to the NextG network (wireless) and drop it once the SHDSL is back online.

I think I can use either a 1800 or 2600 series router to setup the IP network, not sure but about the wireless setup.

Questions:

1) Is there a wireless card compatible with these routers, that support NextG.
2) if so what is it?
3) Is there a sample configuration somewhere?

Apologies for the not so 'technical' language, but I'm trying to put the question in plain english so I can get an answer in plain english :-)

Thanks beforehand and looking forward to your enlightenment.

Hi Eduardo,

sorry i cant give you the solution straight up, but I have got some configs at home for this very scenario - I've got some clients back home in Aust who use the same solutions. NextG with BDSL main connection. If you can wait until tomorrow i'll be happy to find my configs, give them a quick edit and post for your reference.

Cheers,
Phil

ASKER

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the reply, yes please I'd be delighted to have a look at the configuration! Also if you don't mind I'd like to know the hardware combination you are using... i.e. what router/wireless card are you using?

Thanks & regards,

Eduardo
