Redirect www.mysite.com/remote to remote.mysite.com RWW

Hello Experts,

First Question:
How can I redirect https://www.mysite.com/remote to https://remote.mysite.com?

Second question:
If I stayed with the RWW default URL, what is the common name that I register for the SSL cert (using GoDaddy)?

Thank you.

Assuming you have the www.mysite.com site running from your SBS (and available publicly on the Internet via HTTP/HTTPS) you can use the attached ASP script to perform the redirect. Copy the contents to notepad, File > Save As, locate the wwwroot folder and save the file to the "remote" subfolder is "Default.asp" (include the quotes when you type in the file name). If the mysite.com address is hosted at a hosting company, you can still use the script as long as they support ASP. Otherwise post back and I'll give you an HTML version.

When you register the SSL certificate you disregard the protocol (i.e. http:// https://) and you ignore the part after the forward slash after the domain. The only part of your domain the SSL certification authority is concerned about is the part between the http:// and the final /. In this case, assuming the SBS' default web site is running at https://remote.mysite.com, your SSL certificate needs to be registered for remote.mysite.com
Your SSL certificate for remote.mysite.com will then be valid for *everything* accessed using https://remote.mysite.com, including https://remote.mysite.com/remote.

I hope I've understand your configuration correctly!

ASKER

tigermatt,

If I leave www.mysite.com/remote as is in my SBS server, then is the SSL certificate common name "www.mysite.com"?
