I already tried a program called "Delete FXP Files" but it did'nt work. I also tried "chkdsk" on reboot but to no avail.

I see that you are trying out EE for the first time.
In future questions, just ask the question once (for 500 points) instead of two X 250 point questions.

chuckyh, i've already tried that too, but still can't delete the folder.

snoopfrogg, i've also tried chkdisk but after completing checkdisk and rebooting the folder is still there and I still can't delete it.

somebody told me to try "rm.exe" w/c is included in windows resource kit but I don't know how to use it. anymore suggestions?
the problem started when I downloaded a winrar file w/c is supposed to be the setup file for LIMEWIRE PRO 4.16...the rar file contained the folder that I can't delete right now...When I tried to extract the file, it created the folder on my system but winrar posted a message that, the file cannot be extracted or something like that... since then I cannot remove the folder from my system... I've already scan it for viruses or spyware and fortunately there were no viruses nor spywares.
chuckyh, i did try dir /x, but still can't delete this damn folder.
did u try UNLOCKER?
itsmein, yes i did try deleting it using unlocker... it says that "No locking handle found"...then when I chose to delete the folder through unlocker, I got an error saying that "The object could not be deleted", then it ask me "Do you want to perform the requested delete operation at next reboot?", I clicked yes then restarted my pc, but after the reboot, the folder is still there...

Well I guess there is no other process locking the folder and I've already scanned it with my AV and the good thing is there was no virus/spyware/malware found... but I still can't delete the folder.
if you have a  boot floppy or cd, use it and then delete the folder.
There was no one solution to my problem but all your suggestions combined gave me the solution. thanks again.
Hey guys, I've finally found a way to delete the folder.

Through the command prompt I used "dir /x" to see the shortened name of the folder (foldername with ~), then using the shortened name, I used the "ren" command to rename the folder.

I wasn't able to delete it from that point because I keep on getting an error saying "The directory is not empty".

What I did was I rebooted my pc, then used "unlocker" to delete the folder and finally, the folder was gone.
Guys,

I had the same issue on a Novell Server.

Tried all the above mentioned methods including using "unlocker" application etc. Even tried hotfix KB Article Number(s): 943337 from Microsoft. None works for me.

I was able to delete the files from DOS command.

rd DRIVE:\FOLDER /s

It's works.

Good luck.
