Troubleshooting Microsoft CRM 3.0 Client with outlook 2007

Hi All,

My question is in a sense a follow up on the answers from thist post (https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/22747365/Troubleshooting-CRM-Plugin-for-Outlook-2003-2007.html?sfQueryTermInfo=1+client+crm+microsoft+outlook)

I have installed the CRM 3.0 client on the PC, but nothing was showing (i.e. toolbars menu options etc) - following the answers in the above post, I tried to add the CRM client .dll file by going to:
Tools>Trust Centre>Add-Ins>Manage COM Add-Ins... (outlook 2007)

When I click add, and select crmaddin.dll from C:\programfiles\MS CRM\Client\Bin\ and select 'open' to add the file, outlook just crashes and says it has to shut down as has encountered an error.

Not sure how helpful this will be, but here is what the error report contains:

AppName: outlook.exe      AppVer: 12.0.4518.1014     AppStamp:4542840f
ModName: kernel32.dll      ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180      ModStamp:411096b4
fDebug: 0       Offset: 0001eb33

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot or resolve this would be much appreciated. The client has successfully installed first time on another PC on the network, and I can't see any differences in the way it has been setup

Is there a way to install the add-in directly? by just placing it in a folder? Through the registry?

Let me know if there is anything else you might need to help, many thanks in advance

Hi, yes using the V3C client.

One thing that has confused me a great deal - is that if I log on to the same workstation as an administrator (rather than just running the installation from my login area with the administrator details) the toolbar DOES show up in outlook, and I have full flexibility to add or remove the CRM COM add-in. (the toolbars are greyed out and there is an error message about functionality but thats the next problem which I've seen solutions for)

Don't understand why the toolbar won't register on this workstation, but it will show up fine and work fine on anther PC with an idential spec?!

To pre-empt any further questions you may have: I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything (including office) - and have tried installing outlook 2003 (currently using 2007) with no joy

Thanks for your help

Thanks Redwulf. Problem was solved easily as you suggested .... deleted other local user profiles and made sure the CRM client was fully removed from the administrator login, and..... voila!

Cheers

Graham
I'm wondering why I'm getting all those 'B' grades on my answers lately.
Will this work if the other local profiles are just renamed?
