IBM Lenovo desktop will not recognize Sony Duo memory stick

IBM Lenovo Desktop 8810D3U will not recognize a Sony Duo memory stick used in a Sony Cybershot camera.  The camera connects thru a USB cable.  When connected to my Lenovo laptop the memory stick is recognized.  Both machines are running XP Pro. The workstation is new, the laptop about a year old.  I have tried other brands of USB sticks and the workstation can read these.

If I use a different USB port, XP shows new device but it never appears as a drive or option to open any files.
I installed drivers for the memory stick and was able to access it, but after reboot the same problem.
User does have admin rights on this machine.
Any help would be appreciated.

I re-installed drivers (according to Sony's site it is not required to install drivers for XP).
Xp would recognize the stick unitl I rebooted.
Tried camera again a few days later and it appears to be working fine. Rebooted  and it still opens the memory stick.  Not sure what the problem was.
Thanks for all the responses.
Most probably reinstalling the drivers fixed it.
