Inbox will not show new messages

I have two systems with seperate users who are both using outlook 2000 client with exchange 2003 as well as an external pop host for their email.

The issue is that they have to click another folder such as contacts before any new messages will show up in their inbox. Three other users who work in the same department with the same settings do not have to do this.

Any ideas anyone?

"This is a question that comes up monthly.

New mail notifications are handled via UDP packets sent from the Exchange server to the client. The usual problem is that something is blocking these packets.
If your users are running XP SP2 for their OS, then disable the personal firewall. This is enabled by default when SP2 is installed.

You may want to check the MS Knowledge base. There are several KB articles on this problem. Use the following keywords:
NEW MAIL NOTIFICATION OUTLOOK

Hope this helps."
