Sorting the Inbox using From move the highlighted email to the top after the sort is completed

When sorting the Inbox using the From field, normally the list of emails are sorted alphabetically and the highlighted email is the same email address that was already selected prior to the sort.

What is happening in this case after the sort, the highlighted email is the first email at the top of list.
The inbox contains a large number of emails 66000.

Oulook is configured with a pop account, there is no exchange server involved here.

Hi, Alexwn.

I have not seen this behavior before, so all I can do is offer a couple of suggestions.

1.  Try resetting the view.  To do that right-click in the column heading area and select Customize Current View from the pop up menu.  Select Reset Current View.  Warning: this will wipe out any customizations to the current view.

2.  Reduce the number of items in the Inbox.  The sheer number of items in the folder may be causing the problem.  Also, from an organizational perspective, 66,000 messages is an incredible number to try and wade through to find something.

Thanks BlueDevilFan,

I have tried this unfortunately it does not resolve the problem. I also tried disabling the group by option (>View>Arrange By) and this fix the problem.
