Windows Mail (Vista Home Premium) pops Dial-up connection box, locks
I'm supporting Vista w/ Windows Mail at a customer's office.
The internet connection (DSL w/ Wireless-capable routing plus another switch) works fine.
But when Windows Mail tries to send/receive, it pops the "select a Dial-up connection" box.

When I go to Tools | Accounts | Properties and click on the Connection tab, WM hangs. I've waited 2-3 minutes w/ the window showing "not responding" before killing the thing.
Ideas? Beyond checking that IE has the "Never dial a connection" selected, as I've already verified that?
Thanks!

Not to my knowledge. The computer was purchased within the last month & they're just getting email set up w/ their new domain.
System Restore is worth a try ... though that will knock off the remote access software I added, so I'll need to go onsite for that one.
Other ideas to try while I'm there?
Thanks.

The re-import got me most of the way. I did have to delete & re-create one account.
Glad we could help, and thank you..

I would like to add that I came across this same problem today and solved it simply by removing the account settings that were corrupted and adding the settings back in, very simple, fast solution you may want to try before getting into the more involved ones listed in this article.
Did it ever work correctly? Perhaps Restoring the system might be the first step? (System Restore)
