Adobe products get error when printing - adobe print engine has failed to output your data
We are an IBM shop, but just installed 2 new Imac's for our designers. If you do a test page or print from any Microsoft products the Imacs print fine. If you try and print anything from one of the Adobe products we get a printing error: adobe print engine has failed to output your data due to an unknown problem. I found an older technote from Adobe for the previous version of this suite but those notes didn't resolve the problem.

This is the article that I already went through - it didn't resolve the issue.
What kind of printer is this - PostScript, PCL or GDI?

I've tried printing to both postscript and pcl. Again, the test page works and both printers work from Microsoft products. It is only with he Adobe software that this doesn't work.

I've discovered that if I make the user an administrator on the Mac, they can print from Adobe products. As a matter of security, we don't like to give our users administrator rights. Does anyone have a work around on this?
Try doing a permissions repair, by running:
Apps/Utilities/Disk Utility/Disk First Aid/Repair Permissions
If that doesn't work then boot up in Safe Mode and repair at the root level.
Restart while holding Command + s keys, till you see a black screen with white text (unix console). Then type fsck -f and wait for process to finish. Now type reboot to restart machine.

This was resolved by putting a different print driver on the Mac. I'm not quite sure why this resolved the issue, but it did.
