I am looking for a script or something that can be plugged into a CMS (ExpressionEngine) really easily that would allow users to register for a document download which would be emailed to us.
Something that is simple to plugin to be used on any page would be really nice.

I do not know of an available script, but it should be pretty easy to create on your own.
I've reviewed B0ls0tt's response but it did not help.
I was looking for a way to have visitors register (name, contact information) prior to downloading a PDF white paper, something that plugs into Expression Engine would be nice, or stand alone. I have considered the freeForm from Soltice and also protected PDF's, but both solutions have a few kinks.
I can write the code fairly easily, just was looking for a 'turn key" solution that may be used by many of the sites. I was considering just using our auto-responder system they would use a "sign up" form and it just simply emails them the link. This is super simple way of doing it.
But ideally, I wanted something that could allow us to populate salesforce web-to-lead, let them have immediate access to the download link, but it is something we will just probably end up hand coding when we do our new website.
I have done some more research since I asked the question and EE doesn't have a solution out of the box (one of the two areas it isn't good at is dealing with forms and files and 2.x isn't any where soon).
I'll accept the last two solutions anyway as I feel I am in good shape at this point just haven't got around to implementing yet.
