Ubuntu network very slow

Hi,

I've been having network issues in ubuntu for 2 weeks now...the network works fine for some time (from 2 min to a few hours) then it becomes very slow...transfer speeds on LAN are 10kb/s!!!

Ping delay www.google.com is 999ms!!! the router delay is 690ms (from computer to router)!!!

the network works fine on al other (windows) computers, the ping from router console to www.google.com is 60ms...and the ping from router to the comp is also 999ms

ping from windows computer to the router is 1ms!

I'm using wired network, i've tried both, dhcp and static config it both works only for some time...then it becomes very slow

The router is Linksys with tomato 1.17

Nope, i have dual NIC on MB, it behaves the same regardless of which to the cable is plugged in...btw: the cable is also ok, it works on other computer without a problem

Try to change the switch port you are using for that computer

Could be a duplex mis-match.  What nic speed and duplex setting are you getting on the NIC and switch port....
