When burning cd's and dvds I"m having problems. Audio is scratchy when heard at all. Dvd problems as well. What can the problem be?

All of the sudden I'm having trouble burning cd's. I recently changed out my dvd burner as well as my cd burner. I now have an Optorite(sp) cd burner along with a pioneer dvd burner. I've been burning cds in the optorite and 1 out of 2 are being made basically. I'll make an mp3 disk and it'll say it's full, but when I put it in a player it won't play for example, the first 20 songs, but may play 21 and 22 and then not play anymore til 80 or so. It's weird. Same way with regular music cds I burn. It'll play the first 4 songs, then if it plays anymore of the songs they sound scratchy and that's if they even play at all. Disks look ok, clean and I've used about 50 out of a 100 count spindle. Same thing is happening with my dvd burner too.I'm wondering if a memory problem could cause this, or a chipset fan or something related like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

well, i never burn over 16x, mostly at 12x. I can try a few, just hate to keep throwing disks away.

Have you tried to play the disks on a different computer/player?  If not, I would try that first.

I'll close this topic. Thanks for all that helped. It seems that it was just a bad burner. The old one is working fine, so I'll go with that one til it blows up,lol. Thanks again. I'm not sure as to how to give out the points, guess I can split it up.
Your help has saved me hundreds of hours of internet surfing.

thanks for the feedback rerwi
good to know you had a backup burner.
If I may add I see your using Nero if this is an oem version as in bundled with this old burner you may not be able to change the burner and still use this OEM version of Nero.
Something to consider when you upgrade to a new burner look for the new oem bundled versions with Nero express.
I had so many problems with my Nero oem versions if i changed the rom drive I ended buying the full packet so now I change burners anytime.
Thanks again and all the best
