Windows Update cant installed Microsoft .NET Framework Service Pack1

It appears that there is a problem when Windows Update attempt to install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (KB110806)

I see Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is installed when I look under Add and Remove Programs. Also Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 plus its hot fix is there as well.

Windows Update cant installed Microsoft .NET Framework Service Pack1 (KB110806). Windows Update has tried at least six times to install the service pack.

I looked in the Error logger (Event Viewer) and I found some interesting things:

It appears you need to use the  Microsoft removal tool for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1, then try to reinstall it.

Attempting to locate that tool at present ..
Jonvee

The answer may lie here .. am in the process of studing it>

The delete tool worked. Should I now installed .Net 1.0 then .Net 2.0?
Jonvee

Have just logged on  .. yes, as the delete tool appears to have worked, try installing .Net 1.0 and then take a look in Add/Remove programs recording what you see.
If all appears ok, then try installing .Net 2.0.

If you then get the original problem returning, you could use the delete tool  on .Net 1.0 again, & try and install .Net 2.0.

Thanks for reply Jonvee!

I noticed after using the delete tool .Net 1.0 is still installed. I see it when I look under Add and Remove Programs. Should the delete tool have removed .Net 1.0 as well or must I run the delete program again?

Cheers!
Jonvee

Suggest you have another attempt at installing Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (KB110806) now that you've used the delete tool once.
If unsuccessful lets approach the problem from a different perspective and take a look at this msdn forum where others are having a similar problem>

"Cannot install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (KB110806)":

Note that it appears to be resolved by downloading and installing windows installer 3.1, although in this particular case there were further issues:

Thank you for mucho information Jonvee!

I didn't remove .Net 1.0. I was able to successfully install .Net 2.0 & Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1.
The process was smooth as silk.
