Turning it off involves a something very nasty. Don't do it. Are you sure it is hundreds of times per minute ? How are you tracing ? Are there huge deletes ? are you set to auto-shrink ?

In tracing a production server(SQL Server 2000 on Windows Server 2003). &nbsp;I see the ghost cleanup process running 100's of times a minute. &nbsp;Is there any way of setting this task to run only when needed (after a delete)? &nbsp;I do not want to turn off the process I just want it to run less frequently.<br />
