Apple Wireless Keyboard does not work!!!

My wireless keyboard allows itself to be paired, and enters the correct information when I log in using it.

However when I am logged in as myself the keyboard has issues and some keys act like the mouse i.e. one makes the pointer go up, another sideways - for all angles!

The function keys still work for the other functions such as volume etc. but none of the actual alphanumeric keys work.

When I press enter the whole system freezes and I cannot use the mouse!

Has anyone else had this problem?

What the hell is wrong with it? Very strange.... PS I have updated the keyboard firmware properly and am using Leopard on a MacBook Pro

Do you have another keyboard with which you can reach system preferences? If you can then go to the mouse icon and go to keyboard shortcuts. Then try to disable everything and see if the behavior changes. If it does then re-enable one by one until the problem recurrs

Thanks. I've fixed it by creating another profile so it must be something profile specific. I'll do the checks you recommend in order to troubleshoot my existing profile.
Good thinking, you can ask the admin for half your points back if you want as you did half the work. hehe or I will take em all if you have unlimited points.
I can help but get the feeling that this is a accessiblity feature. Try in the setting menu for this. My mac is down a teh mo so cant test myself
Yeah could be. Not very accessible at the moment though... where is this setting?

Yes,,,,, it was the Mouse Keys setting which for some reason was on.... why for this keyboard I don't know - but never mind! Thanks so much.
