How do I find out which driver is used by Windows to load from the HDD

I like to find out which driver is used for the boot device by windows. The image is off-line, it is not booting but have access to the registry

If I understand it correctly, it is set in the registrys in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services,
but how can I find out which one  and what do I need to do to change it?

You can check which driver is being used on Computer Management.

This is getting closer, thanks.
Yes, the problem is that the old motherboard of this machine has died and I need to use another. Unfortunately the people initially configured the machine have used the onboard GigaRaid controller and that is I beleive what I have problems with.
The drive is a standard IDE drive and it should boot I would have thought, but no luck.

In the past I have moved many images from one type of controller to another, IDE to SCSI or SATA, as long as I could install the driver before shifting the image the controller booted fine.

Here I have the problem since the MB is dead, I can't boot. The system goes to 2/3 of the splash screen in windows 2000 server and there comes the inaccessable boot device...:-)

"...You can then rename the driver file for the new controller to match what the registry is looking for for the old controller and that can solve the problem sometimes...."

Could you please elaborate on this please?

TIA,

Tom
