agree with Kutyi
I had the same problem with 10.0 but then i was able to upgrade to 10.1.5 which supports vista.
As for the other problem search for a tool called nonav 2.6 or later which should remove all registries, files and folder and re-install.

If you do need to remove Symantec Corporate version, then a full tool is available by Symantec called "SCSCleanWipe". This will completely remove the program and allow for a clean reinstall.

There is a problem where some clients can't be updated with new definitions, not automatically or manually, which was happening on client versions 10.1.5 and older. Symantec said that this was fixed in version 10.1.6. We started upgrading all of the clients having the problem to 10.1.7 and haven't had any problems with definitions getting out of date.
I've heard of SCSCleanWipe, but haven't used it yet. What I've used successfully is NoNav 2.6 to remove SAV CE entirely from a system before reinstalling.
Okay so i downloaded 10.2 got two zip file for CD1 and CD2..i unzipped them but now im stuck...how do iinstall 10.2 ..iim not seeing a main install or setup ..when you click on the install or setup...on the different CDs its not telling you to install 10.2 but some section of 10.2. Please advise...

If you are going to update your whole organisation, then you need to do the following:
Uninstall current Symantec System Centre on server
Run the 10.2 CD on the server (check to see which file autorun executes, and execute that)
Choose to Install Symantec, Deploy Server. Once launched, you get option to updgrade. Do this!
Once it has done, reboot.
Now install latest Symantec System Centre
Once done and rebooted, you can perform client installs from System Centre - Tools, Client Remote Install. This sould update the clients to the latest version, or is you have logon scripts setup like I usually do it checks and sees there is a new verison, then automatically updates to it.

** Try manual installation for the definitions on the first client you referred to.
Regarding the installation of SCE on Vista, It's not supported ... Symantec corporation edition 10 only supports the following OSs.
Operating System(s): Windows 2000, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional Edition, Windows XP Tablet PC, NetWare 5.1, NetWare 6.0, NetWare 6.5, Windows XP 64-Bit Edition 2003, Windows Server 2003 32-bit Edition, Windows Server 2003 64-bit Edition, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
What you need to get to install on vista is the new version of this product which is "Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.2"..
I had the same problem with 10.0 but then i was able to upgrade to 10.1.5 which supports vista.
