Cannot Display the Folder

I am having a problem with a client computer. When the user opens up the inbox he gets a messagine saying:

Cannot display the folder. Microsoft Windows Operating System existed without properly closing your Outlook data file c:\...\data.ost. Microsoft Outlook must be restarted. If this error message recurs, contact support for Microsoft Windows Operating System for assistance.

Not only did we exit properly, but we deleted the profile and created a new one even renaming the ost file that sits on the local to cache the mail.

We even repaired the Microsoft Office software. ..

Any ideas?

Have you tried the utility scanost.exe?
This will repair ost files.

This utility is normally on the client.

You may can your local hard drive to find the utility.  If you do search for it, make sure to look in hidden and system folders.

On my system, the file is in the c:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033

I am going to try the tool... I wonder what is wrong because we even rebuilt the profile and thus created a new ost file.. . .

I don't know what is wrong, but I have had good luck with the scanost.exe utility.

Good Luck!

Close and reopen Outlook in Safe mode:
Star>Run>Outlook.exe /safe

Once opened, close and re-open as normal. See if this helps

If it doesnt try the following

Start>Run>Outlook.exe /resetfolders

Start>Run>Outlook.exe /cleanprofile

For more Outlook 2003 Command Line Switches that may help, and what they do:
