Veritas 11D backup is very slow

Dear Experts,

I have an IBM server 345 series with windows 2003 installed, we have connected an IBM LTO 3 SCSI backup to it to backup our shares drives from the same server, the job rate is 200 MB per min which is very slow, it requires 22 hours to backup 270 GB of Data using the SCSI, any advice.

Thanks

The default block and cache sizes in Backup Exec do not perform real well. Go into Devices, then choose the Properties of your tape drive. On the Configuration tab, set Block Size to 64k and Buffer Size to 1024k. Set the buffer count to the maximum value and highwater count to about 3/4 of th buffer count.

I've seen making those changes make a huge difference in performance of backups.
