Can't open the case!

I'm trying to clean this PC up & install a new HDD. The problem is that I can't get the case open. It's sort of an odd thing that's curved on the top & bottom with a removable base. It's also slimline style but is larger than most slimlines that I've seen.

I usually can figure these out is a few minutes. Not this time.

Thanks for any help,
Dennis

Looks like a clamshell case => remove the thumbscrew at the top right of the 1st picture you posted; set the case as shown in the last picture; and then pull up on the side from the rear ... I believe it will open like a clamshell (hinged in the front).

Punky, your link didn't show up. Please repost.

garycase, the thumbscrew on the right holds the add-on cards (modem, etc) in place rather than using a screw for each. I'm not sure what the left hand screw does (it seems to screw into the power supply). The thumbscrew in the middle seems to secure some sort of latch. The problem is that it doesn't seem to unlatch anything. I've tried to lift the side from all sides in a clamshell fashion with no success.

I'd unscrew all 3 thumbscrews; then try to lift the top => it's almost certainly a clamshell case ... it's just a question of figuring out the "secret" to release the catch.   I suspect the middle thumbscrew is the actual latch; but the others may need to be released because there may be a section of the top involved in those latching mechanisms.

Just happened upon this and see an answer has been accepted.

There is one thumb screw on rear to remove and a latch on bottom front of case. Then cover lifts off. Base has to be romoved first. I've seen two of those with failed power supplies. Cheapest fix was to purchase a uATX case and transfer components. Power supply is proprietary , hard to find, and expensive.

Motherboard is standard uATX form factor.

Another two cents worth. Notice in the second photo, just to the left of the cd drawer, there is a small rectangular panel. You can push that panel in with your fingertips to release a latch, and pull the side cover up. You don't need to remove any screws to do this. If there is a base attached you have to remove that first by pulling it forward and down.

Here's some further pictures, I never thought to push that front button, I didn't realize it was a button. If it wasn't for this forum I don't think I would of gotten this case open. Thanks!

There's a  little plastic clip that locks the faceplace in right above the power button. You can bend in with your finger to release it from inside the case. The power button on the front isn't wired in so the whole faceplate comes off no problem.
