How do commas work in an outlook search?

I am looking for a calendar appt that has the word "wilson,l" in the subject line, but when I search for it, it brings up practically everything in the calendar. I think it is because the comma tells it to search for the word wilson OR the letter l, but could someone clarify that? I tried putting quotes around it, but that didn't bring up any results. I searched Microsoft's site to find more about outlook search criteria, but didn't have much luck.

Have you tried putting the search string in quotes ... it seems to work that way i.e:

"wilson, I"

yes, but unfortunately when I try that nothing comes up. I did confirm it was in there and even tried copying it to the search field with quotes around it

It works for me though ... need a different tack then.

I assume names in outlook mail fields are separated by a semicolon or do you use the comma as a separator?

that is correct, we use a semicolon to seperate them.

I have retried this with 2003 and it still works

i.e. I created a calendar item with the subject Wilson, i and a search for "wilson, I" returns just the one item.

Do you think it would have anything to do with there being over 5,000 entires on this calendar?
