Unwanted error beep

When using the Exceed xwindows product, I encounter a loud beep on certain error events, i.e. scrolling past the last item in a list. I have my windows xp sound theme set to 'no sounds'. Yet the beep occurs. I am wondering is there is some way to turn off the beep either in Unix or as part of the Exceed configuration. Thanks
