How do I find and remove an object name in Active Directory manually

Hi
A while back I demoted a domain controller named Flint and had to manually clean active directory using ntdsutil. Months later when I add a new server on the network named flint I get the error "duplicate name exists on network". I have cleaned WINS, DNS etc and still have the problem. How do I check the active directory database to see if there are any references to an object named Flint.

Thanks
