Can not change default email thru IE7

I am using Vista ultimate, I have Outlook 2003 and Lotus Notes 7.0.2 and Lotus Notes 8.0 installed on this machine and I mainly use Lotus for email. My problem is when I am on web page using IE7 and there is a link to email someone and I click on it Outlook always opens. I have gone in under tools, internet options, programs, set programs, set program access and computer defaults and select Lotus notes. Everything looks OK but it does not change what opens when I try to email from a web page.

Hello nestey,

1. Right Click on Taskbar>Properties>StartMenu>Customize
which program is selected for E-Mail here?
it should be Outlook 2003 in your computer.

2. If no joy, double-click My Computer> Tools> Folder Options> File Types > select URL:Mailto Protocol> Advanced button > Open command > Edit button, examine/modify the "Application used to perform action"
box so it has the following value:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE" -c IPM.Note /m "%1"

Hope this helps!

When I Right Click on Taskbar>Properties>StartMenu>Customize
which program is selected for E-Mail here Lotus Notes is in the box but there is no check mark selecting it. I put a chack mark there and tried it but it still opens outlook from the web page. I do not see a File Type selection when I Double-click My Computer> Tools> Folder Options>  My only options are General, View, and Search.

Thanks war1, That did the trick, I had to use option #3 and download Creative Element Power Tools so I could change the path and for your info the suffix for Lotus is    -defini %1
A lot of work for something that looks so simple, especially when IE has a spot that looks like it allows you to make this change.
