Thanks for the help. &nbsp;Your instructions didn't solve my problem because Windows determined that it couldn't uninstall the device because it was needed for the machine to boot. &nbsp;I did some other stuff, which ended up resolving the problem, but I don't remember what I did.<br />

In the last few days I have suddenly been unable to connect to a particular L2TP VPN connection. &nbsp;Each attempt results in an immediate error 609: A device type was specified that does not exist.<br />
<br />
I can see in my connection properties that L2TP is still selected. &nbsp;The connection specifies that it will be using the L2TP Wan MiniPort. &nbsp;I can see that port in my device manager, and it states that it's working properly, yet the error persists.<br />

I need help figuring out this issue.<br />

Microsoft Windows XP is the sixth release of the NT series of operating systems, and was the first to be marketed in a variety of editions: XP Home and XP Professional, designed for business and power users. The advanced features in XP Professional are generally disabled in Home Edition, but are there and can be activated. There were two 64-bit editions, an embedded edition and a tablet edition.
