Connecting Tandberg Video Conferencing Unit to Skype

Tandberg unit has it's own IP available to access from the net. Dial it on other similar units by entering the IP.

As far as I know - Skype uses usernames, etc for contacting others (like MSN does).

Is there any way to establish a video conference between this unit and someone using Skype?

Because this is somewhat urgent - I'd really appreciate it if I didn't have to read through pages of instructions - but just have a more condensed solution offered directly in a post - for this there's 500 points.

Thanks in advance   :)

That's what i thought as well (ok not about the protols so much).

So then is there any way of connecting a Tandberg VC unit to a PC running any software?

Or - is there anyway to connect the unit, or just the camera to a PC that has Skype or other software on it - so that both PC's are using the same program?
you can view the web interface from any PC.. the best people to speak to is tandberg.. give them a call they are very helpfull. I think you can get a remote unit to web via a PC but its not default

So of the unit has an IP of 128.180.1.1 then the other person can view the camera by going to http://128.180.1.1? How would our user see the other person though? I sort-of doubt this is what you meant by your last comment though
you can login to the device via the web interface, and control calls, you need to allow the web interface access to view calls, If i remember right this is set on the devices itself, one of the options allows you to view calls on web session.  you will be able to see the remote end video and also the local video..

unless you are in the room you will get no sound though...

Well I'll play with it at my next opportunity when at work and see if I have any more questions about it. I'll award points after I'm done with it.

Tried to get into it but was prompted for a password - tried a few of the standard IT ones with nos success - so either it has a default one or I have to ask if anyone set one up.
try:

admin
tandberg

I believe thats the default :0)

Unfortunatley that didn't work.

I looked in the settings and found that there are passwords set for 'IP Access' and 'VNC' (Administrator password is blank).

Do you know which of those is the one I'm being asked for? The IP access password has the same number of asteriks as the word tandberg, despite it not working.
hummm,

if you dont have the password then you would have to look at a factory reset.. Have you given Tandberg a call??

Due to the fact that this is dragging out longer than I hoped (on my end) I'll award points early and if I happen to need anything else I'll ask below  :o)

The default username/password is TANDBERG/TANDBERG
I have moved a step further, and found that Polycom PVX works.  At this point Polycom is not supporting Windows 7.  Their tech people were able to install version 8.0.16, and with some tech command line prompts, it seems to work.  Does anyone have knowledge of a product that is designed for Windows 7?  Is the H.323 protocol used by any Windows add ons?
