report card software in MS Access
I have developed a software in MS Access for generating report cards for school students.I have used tables, forms ,queries and reports.I am enclosing a word file explaining structure of the tables and my problem.I wanted to attach zipped software file also but the size is 7 MB which is not permissible to attach.Could someone help me in displaying subject breakups with the structure I am using or I need to change the table structure?

Do you have a Relationship diagram in your project? Might be easier to visualize if you could post a screenshot (jpg format, please) of that diagram.

If, however, you need to further break down the Subjects into "divisions" - you mention that the Science subject has Physics, Chemistry and Biology - then I believe you need to either (a) add another table (perhaps something along the lines of tblSubjectDivisions) or (b) store the various "flavors" of a subject in the Subject table, and treat them individually. Which would be better would depend on exactly what you need to do with this; if all you're looking to do is store Student Grades, then I'd think (b) would be the simplest; if you're working on a full-fledged school management system, where you need to track EVERYTHING about a particular subject (including which top-level subject each sub-subject belongs to) then you'd need to use (a).

parmarparveen,

Thanks,
But..... Thanks for what?
:-O

My post was just a clarification of what you should post.
It was not a solution.

LSM's post contained more practical advice than my post.
If any post was Accepted, it should have been his.
;-)

You do not have to Accept a post just to close a question.

Just contact the support staff by clicking the "Report Abuse" link in the bottom right hand side of your original post.

Accepting a post that does not solve the issue actually hurts more than it helps.
Because someone searching here for a similar issue will find this Q and wonder why/how my post could have possibly solved the issue.

So what to do now?...

Either click the "Report Abuse" button now or contact the support staff directly: https://www.experts-exchange.com/support.jsp

In any event, ask that LSM's post should be changed to the Accepted Solution.
:-)
