NDR: #5.7.7 smtp;577 5.7.7 Unable to accept message

Hi,

I have a client who is having issues sending email to a client in a large corporation, and I can't make out what's causing the issue. Here's the NDR:

___________________________________________________________________________________
From: System Administrator [mailto:postmaster@mydomain.com]
Sent: 29 April 2008 09:00
To: My Colleague
Subject: Undeliverable: RE: Blablabla

Your message

  To:      joe.bloggs@bigcorporation.com
  Subject: RE: Blablabla
  Sent:    Tue, 29 Apr 2008 09:00:51 +0100

did not reach the following recipient(s):

joe.bloggs@bigcorporation.com on Tue, 29 Apr 2008 09:00:25 +0100
The recipient could not be processed because it would violate the security policy in force
    <mail.mydomain.com #5.7.7 smtp;577 5.7.7 Unable to accept message>
____________________________________________________________________________

This corporation has 6 MX records and I have connected to 2 of them via telnet from our mail server and ran checks on both the sender, and the recipient addresses, and their mail server accepted both, so I'm wondering is the issue related to a spam filter...

All help appreciated

Hi Richard,

Those DNS record checking websites are by far the best I have ever come across - So clear, and minimal information! Our mail server looks to be running just fine, and we aren't on any blacklists either.

I did see that other post in the EE, but unfortunately the solution isn't working for me - I sent some plain text emails with no signature to this address, and I keep getting the same error.

Thanks they're indeed lifesavers :-D

Don't mind asking but do you have a:

reverse DNS setup?
SPF setup?

The reason I'm asking is, it could be a BIG possibility they see your email as spam...for some reason and that they rejecting it with some daft error message.

Is it only with this client that email don't get accross? Any other clients you cannot send mail to?

reverse DNS setup?  - We do have a valid PTR record for our mail server
SPF setup? - I'm not so sure how to check this?

We only have one contact in this company, and as far as I can tell no email account in our domain can email this address successfully. I did email him successfully through Gmail though...

Check on http://www.mxtoolbox.com/spf.aspx :-)
If it turns out a ZERO you do not have an SPF record. This could be a problem but don't know if this will be a solution for your problem.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sender_Policy_Framework and
http://www.openspf.org/SPF_Record_Syntax.

Kind regards,

Richard.
We do not have an SPF record, but I don't think this is the issue. I have logged a call with the large corporations IT helpdesk and requested their explanation of why our mails are being blocked - Hopefully this might shed some light on the issue.

The issue is not resolved but at least we have narrowed down what isn't causing the issue. I will award the points as soon as I hear back from the support team.
Thanks. It was nice to have narrowed it down with you :-)

Waiting for their solution.

Richard

can you please post your solution for future problem owners and solution seekers?

Thanks.

Richard.
Hi Richard,

Apologies for the delay - I'm just back from my holidays today. The corporate client we were dealing with came back to us yesterday and they said the reason why we were probably failing to bypass their spam list was because our domain is a relatively new one (6 months old), and therefore the strict spam filtering rules were rejecting our emails.

Not a great way to do business in my opinion...

Thanks for all your help and apologies for the late addition of your points.

Best regards,
Fin
The 2 websites in your solution helped pin down that our domain wasn't causing the issue, so thanks for all your help
No problem. Thanks for coming back and your reward :-)

Hope you have a great day :-)

Thank you...Richard.
