What is at 198.162.1.1?
I meant to access my router at 192.168.1.1. Instead I typed 198.162.1.1 into my browser accidentally. A login screen comes up, similar to my router login (and every other login page), but it mentions "level_15_access". Are addresses in the 198.162.*.* reserved for something in particular, like 192.168.*.* addresses are reserved for routers? Do you have any information on what is at 198.162.1.1? Just curious. Thanks.
This is completely dependent on your network layout, and therefore difficult to answer, but I think the most common case would be a router or gateway. For example: I have a Qwest DSL gateway that defaults to 192.168.1.1.
Do you happen to have a switch or some other networking device on your network that it could be.

I think this is what I should have searched for (rfc 1918):
"3. Private Address Space
The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) has reserved the
following three blocks of the IP address space for private internets:
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 (10/8 prefix)
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (172.16/12 prefix)
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (192.168/16 prefix)"
So the ip address I mentioned is just another website.
It happens to be a school in Canada I think (whois actually helped):
OrgName: East Kootenay Community College
OrgID: EKCC
Address: 2700 College Way
City: Cranbrook
StateProv: BC
PostalCode: V1C5L7
Country: CA
NetRange: 198.162.1.0 - 198.162.1.255
CIDR: 198.162.1.0/24
NetName: EKCCNET

I will post tomorrow and split points between TeckBargains and Tojiro. Gotta run.
