Activesync causes BSOD

Installing Activesync 4.5 causes a BSOD just before the install completes. Activesync appears to be installed after reboot but starting it causes the same BSOD. Attempts to uninstall result in the same BSOD. The icon
in my computer for the Mobile device is only partially complete with the center section kind of smudged looking. Clicking the icon causes Explorer to crash and shutdown.

Microsoft's Activesync Help website has a lot of reference to firewall/av configuration to let Activesync work. 've completely uninstalled the firewall/av/etc. (F-Secure from Embarq, the ISP)

This is a Dell desktop computer running XP SP2 with all updates (SP3 is not installed). This is not my computer so getting more specifics on the hardware/software may take some time

I see a lot of BSOD messages with Activesync on Google but most are 8E errors and earlier versions of Activesync.

Since I do not have direct access to the computer I will have to get the minidumps and try 4.2 when I can get to the computer. I will post back as soon as I can.

Additional Information:
Dell Dimension E521
AND64 X2 Dual Core 3800+
1GB RAM
XP -Pro SP2
160 GB HD

I attempted to install Activesync 4.2 with the same results - BSOD
When installing 4.2, the BSOD occurrs when the Registry Values are being written.
The actual BSOD error value is 0x00000050 (oxffffffdf, 0x00000000,  0xx8054a51a, 0x00000000)

On reboot, "system has recovered from serious error
message details shows the BCCode: 10000050 with Product: 256_1

I have attached the mini-dumps from the 4.2 install as well as the one previous what I believe was the uninstall of 4.5
I have several other mini-dump files if needed.
I still need help and this question seems to have been dropped. How do I get the real experts to give me their attention?? EE says "If you need help getting solutions to or closing any of your questions, please post a request for assistance in the Community Support zone. One of the Moderators will then assist you." I'm not sure how to do that But I'll try to figure it out.

the problem exists and reformatting is not an option.
You never attached the minidumps. Zip them and attach them...
I thought that I had uploaded the mini-dumps but think I overlooked the file type restrictions. I've zipped two of the most recent dumps and attached but had to rename the file extention to .txt due to the EE file restrictions. They will need to be renamed to .dmp to use them. . I do have other dumps.
Minidump2.zip
Both dumps show a problem with the file "ntkrpamp.exe". Check if you can replace it with one from a working PC, or run sfc /scannow from a cmd prompt.

Also one of the dumps was the "8E" error which you mentioned in your Q that referred to the older activesync versions. Check those solutions you saw there and try them with your PC.
