Hardware Diagnostic Tools

Hello Experts. My mother is 1,500 miles away and wants me to let her know what kind of Graphics Card she should purchase. So I need to connect to her computer remotely and find out what she can take--i.e., PCI, PCI Express, AGP, etc. So my question for you is: What can I install on her computer which can tell me everything about her computer?

Thanks.

If it's a pre-made main stream computer (Dell, HP, Gateway, or similar)
You should be able to look everything up with the model and/or the serial number on the manufacturer's site.

Those programs work for computer savy people but if your mom is like mine and not so computer savy just find out what make/model it is and don't run her through the grinder installing software that kicks back things she doesn't understand.

My mother does not need to be computer savy, PCBONEZ. I will "connect to her computer remotely and find out what she can take'. I got some very interesting help here from AnthonyRusso, dbrunton, and kiolqc, of which I will evaluate once I get home from work later today. Mainly, what I need to determine, is which kind of slots she has available for graphics cards--i.e., AGP, PCI, PCI Express, etc. I don't want to tell her to buy a graphics card for an AGP slot if she can't even use it, for instance.
From past experience those "analyze the system" programs leave a lot to be desired. (Not so accurate.) Add to that trying to do it remotely,, not for me.

I'd still go with looking things up in manufacturer docs.
THanks.
